3.3.3 neurčitost popisu funkce; ;
nejistota (3.3.1) vyplývající z rozdílnosti mezi operátorem skutečné specifikace (3.2.8) a operátorem funkce (3.2.2), který stanovuje uvažovanou funkci součásti, vyjádřenou v termínech a jednotkách podle operátoru skutečné specifikace
POZNÁMKA 1 Neurčitost popisu funkce je, pokud je to možné, vyjádřena v číslech a jednotkách srovnatelných s danou specifikací.
POZNÁMKA 2 Neurčitost popisu funkce obvykle nesouvisí s jedinou specifikací GPS (3.4.3). Simulace funkce obvykle vyžaduje několik jednotlivých specifikací GPS (např. rozměr, tvar a textura povrchu pro stejný prvek součásti).
PŘÍKLAD Kde operátorem funkce (3.2.2) pro hřídel je schopnost hřídele v díře s ucpávkou být v provozu 2 000 h bez netěsnosti a operátor specifikace (3.2.3) je stanoven (30 h7 pro rozměr hřídele a Ra 1,5 používající filtr s vlnovou délkou cut-off 2,5 mm pro texturu povrchu hřídele, potom neurčitost popisu funkce je odvozena od schopnosti specifikace zajistit následující:
hřídel vyhovující specifikaci bude v provozu 2 000 h bez netěsnosti, a
hřídel, která není v souladu se specifikací, nebude v provozu 2 000 h bez netěsnosti.
3.3.3 ambiguity of the description of the function
uncertainty (3.3.1) arising from the difference between the actual specification operator (3.2.8) and the functional operator (3.2.2) that defines the intended function of the workpiece, expressed in the terms and units of the actual specification operator
NOTE 1 Ambiguity of the description of the function is, if possible, expressed in numbers and units comparable to the specification given.
NOTE 2 Ambiguity of the description of the function is usually not related to a single GPS specification (3.4.3). Usually it takes a number of single GPS specifications to simulate a function (e.g. size, form and surface texture for the same feature of the workpiece).
EXAMPLE Where the functional operator (3.2.2) for a shaft is the shaft's ability to run in a hole with a seal for 2 000 h without leaking, and the specification operator (3.2.3) is 
a shaft complying with the specification will run for 2 000 h without leaking, and
a shaft that does not comply with the specification will not run for 2 000 hours without leaking.
